YASHASHCHANDRA FAMILY FOUNDATION

About YFF

Yashchandra Family Foundation is created by a family in which all the 3 children are physically challenged (differently abled).

The objective of YFF is to financially help the child who is physically challenged but wants to study.

YFF will also help any school or college which wants to create infrastructure for the physically challenged students.

Having trouble with eyesight is also a big challenge for the student and we sincerely wish that they also grow in life but as there are many institutions which take care of these type of students, we regret to say that helping these students will not be possible by this foundation.

About the Family

which created this foundation

YFF foundation is a brainchild of a family of 5 members consisting of Chandraketu Mehta (Father) who was a Mechanical and Electrical Engineer with a height of 6 Feet 2 inches and who was a very good sportsman. In medical terms it is called Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita (AMC).
If the deformities were to be described in layman’s language, then:

  • For Shubhani it would be, no knee caps, so legs do not bend, legs from the knee joint move outwards, improper elbow joint so hands do not get stretched straight and height of three feet
  • For Shakti it would be, improper elbow joint so hands do not get stretched straight, curved spinal cord, knock knees and height of about four feet
  • For Maulik it would be, no knee caps, so legs do not bend, legs from the knee joint move outwards (almost like a frog), curved spinal cord, improper elbow joint so hands do not get stretched straight, and height of about three feet and ten inches

Despite this:

Shubhani graduated in Arts with English and Economics and served in Limited Companies for 41 years as Telephone Operator

How the 3 of us were brought up

Our Father and Mother loved all 3 of us so much that they never gave up and always encouraged and supported us.
Five very important messages which were conveyed to us were:

  • They will not be in a position to create a different world for us. World is what it is and we will have to find our way in this very world
  • Most of the people in this world are good and we must learn to ignore the rest of the people
  • We should not hesitate to seek help from others but at the same time we should seek help only when it is required
  • Mummy had emphasised that NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS, EVEN IF THIS ENTIRE WORLD TURNS AGAINST US, we 5 should remain absolutely firm in our relationship
  • The entire job may look very difficult but when broken up into parts, going from one milestone to the next one with determination, most of the time you will be able to complete it.

We as a family very strongly believe that whatever little 3 of us could achieve in life was mainly because of the help that we got from the society and now we should pay back to the society.

This humble intent with which the foundation is created is again a small gesture from all five of us and with full knowledge that even after this, whatever we got from the society can never be paid back in totality.

Message from Us

A personal note on behalf of all 5 of us
